Current Study: "SOON" Finding God's Revelation in the Book of Revelation

CathyBurgessWEB.jpg

In studying Revelation, the big question is always, "When is Jesus coming back?" The Bible has already answered that question: "Soon."  With that time frame in mind, how should you live each day in anticipation of His return?

In this discussion-based study, you will learn "keys" to understanding Revelation. Utilizing these principles, you will interact with other women to interpret and apply each chapter of this intriguing last book of the Bible. Participant Notebooks available.

Led by Cathy Burgess

Upcoming Study: Her.

We don't even know all their names. Some are referred to only by their nationality. Some are known only by the place where they lived. Some became queens, while others lived on the fringes of society. One gave birth to a nation. One gave birth to the Messiah. Their culture often overlooked their contributions simply because they were women, yet the writers of Scripture included them. Come join us as we walk thought the pages of Scripture and discover the remarkable role these women played in the unfolding of God's Story. (Based on Ten Women of the Bible, by Max Lucado.) Begins April 19th.

August 31: Prayer Walk: Meet at NB Church at 6:30pm.

Groups will gather and then carpool to prayer walk at the schools of their choosing. Prayer walking is described as "praying onsite with insight." It is prayer that is targeted for the place you are walking. Our target for this time of prayer walking will be at schools where we can pray for students, teachers, parents, and administrators.

What is prayer walking?
Prayer walking is the practice of praying on location, a type of intercessory prayer that involves walking to or near a particular place while praying. Some people believe that being close to a location allows them to “pray nearer to pray clearer.” Prayer walks are taken by individuals, groups, and even whole churches. They can be as short as a block or as long as many miles. The idea is to use the five senses—sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch—to increase the intercessor’s understanding of prayer needs.

Since 1993, more than 100 million boys and girls in over 130 countries have experienced God’s love through the power of simple shoebox gifts from Operation Christmas Child. Samaritan’s Purse works with local churches and ministry partners to deliver the gifts and share the life-changing Good News of Jesus Christ.

One of EveryDay Ministry projects is sharing PiP dolls and Story the Monkey dolls with orphan children around the world. In two years, over 700 PiP dolls have been sent to 12 countries. In 8 months, over 125 Story dolls have been sent to 3 countries. When children are presented with the dolls, they are told that Jesus loves them and that another child will be praying for them.

At Girls' Night Out 2015 (July 30th), you can purchase PiP or Story for $42. For this amount, you will be given one doll to present to a child in your life and another doll will be donated to travel overseas with groups going on missions trips. A portion of these proceeds also goes to pay a woman overseas for her work in sewing the dolls together. Options for involvement include: Bringing a Hobby Lobby gift card which will be used to purchase material for future production of more dolls or making a cash donation toward the purchase of materials for more dolls. You can also join together with friends to buy a doll and then agree to share it with a specific child you have in common.

This month’s Reach Out Sunday will focus on filling water bottles with change and bills to raise money and awareness for Pure Water - Pure Love, an organization that provides missionaries all over the world with water filters and clean water wells for their area.

For many people in the world, walking miles while carrying heavy jugs of water to make sure they have clean water, is a daily reality. Many missionaries constantly run the risk of contracting a disease or parasite from the water in the countries they are in. This is where Pure Water - Pure Love takes action.

The primary goal of PWPL is to provide missionaries with water filters and the people they serve with wells that offer clean water, free from disease-causing microorganisms. With the help of churches, PWPL provides thousands of water filters to missionary families and helps fund clean water projects.

The strength of this 5th Sunday Emphasis is that it assist our SBC IMB missionaries in their ministries. Check out the Welcome Center to pick up bottles and get more info!

Echo: Bixby

Bixby Outreach Center (BOC) is a local agency that provides food, clothing, and other assistance to families having financial difficulty in the Bixby and Glenpool areas. Several New Beginnings' members volunteer weekly at BOC and New Beginnings provides regular funding to assist BOC with their efforts. BOC currently has a great need for new underwear in all sizes for men, women, teens, and children. We will be collecting packages of underwear from now until April 25, to be donated to BOC. These donations can be placed in the canvas 3-bin sorter placed in the lower lobby near the missions table.

Echo: India

New Beginnings is blessed to have so many members who participate in overseas mission opportunities. Two young women who have made a sacrificial commitment-- Natasha (Tash) Sturdivant and Tyler Butler have been involved in missions and evangelism here in America and in India for the past few years. Both are in India for an extended period of service. Tash and Tyler have an incredible passion for ministry in India, and are very excited to have the opportunity to share that excitement with the women of New Beginnings.

Echo: Haiti

Many thanks for the prayers and donations of supplies for the teams heading to Haiti May 30, 2013.
